Now, I’m not going to leave a couple of important issues dangling. Yes, it’s all about those things men have got and we sistas ain’t got. When we’re talking about men’s health we’re talking about the stuff men like women to believe is enormous and then pretend to themselves they haven’t got at all. We’re not talking about their golf clubs or toy train collection. It’s the engine of the sort of stuff I write. Without the heroic deep voiced gonad gauchos I’d be out of business. The truth is that the poor dears would rather rope a bull than admit they have a problem. They have other health issues like banging their skulls unblocking the sink trap and inability to walk when they get a cold. The sad truth is that they ignore the serious stuff. 



Mo Sistas, it’s time to step up…

Perhaps one of the men close to you (brother, husband, son, friend…) joins in with the moustachioed adventure that happens every November. Around the world it’s the month that has literally changed its name, as the global organisation, Movember, leads the way in changing the face of men’s health.
This year it is time for the ladies to step up and grab the moustache baton. While we Mo Sistas may be follicly challenged about the face, we do have the power of words at our fingertips.

Let’s Hear It For The Boys is a tribute to the men of Movember. The HitLitPro authors have created these 9 short stories to celebrate men in our lives, the effect they have on our hearts, our minds (and our bodies) and the difference they can make to the world around them. 

The authors are: Caroline James, Jenny Harper, Linn B Halton, Mandy Baggot, Nikki Mason, Rosie Dean, Sheryl Browne Zara Stoneley and of course me!

Review of #thriller The Edge Of Sanity by @SherylBrowne #tense #drama

Looking back, I don’t say much about writing. Maybe deep down I don’t think I am a writer. Maybe I’m a lasagna guru or a laundry operative with delusions of poverty. Maybe I’m a French maid or an audio book producer. Maybe I’m a vacuum cleaner analyst, a taxi driver or school homework consultant. Time is running short. With more than fifty years and a power point presentation of kids in the CV it’s about time to wise up and get a foothold in something. I’ll start once I’ve peeled all the carrots and sorted out a book cover. You see, I can focus.

I do know I’m a reader. In the whole rickety house of publishing, the reader is what matters. They are the walls and the footings. All the rest is huff puff and show biz.  The true talent of the reader is to suspend disbelief and follow the trail. My latest read has been The Edge of Sanity by Sheryl Browne. I had read a couple of her other books before and count myself as a fan. This book was like nothing she has done before. It is a tense psychological thriller with elements of drug abuse, teenage rebellion, violence and crime. All of this is set against a backdrop of personal tragedy and a dysfunctional relationship. Wow!

This is a page turner where you never know where you are going next. From the outset, Daniel Conner drew my sympathy. You kinda know that things are going out of control in a life that has already known tragedy. This is a dark story yet among it all there is a thread of hope and almost humour in places. Few authors would risk a chase involving police on bikes and a canal boat in the middle of a terrifying drama. The writer has obviously studied or experienced teenage psychologies and the haphazard life style of detectives. As I was reading I identified so much with the characters that I kept asking myself what I would do in their place. At times I felt quite anxious and had to assure myself I was just reading. The ending is not a cut off but rather a jagged tear or rip. Life is uncertain – an edge may fray or not. This is a tight tense read that is never quite finished with you.

Boy of the hood

Today’s Pinterest reveal  features that most enigmatic of human phenomena – the teenager. We’ve all been one but somehow once you leave its discarded skin behind, you can never quite remember how it was. Your own adoescent skin will be an unfashionable object of derision hidden under an outdated alternative vocabulary. Interrogating current teens often creates more heat than light. Benjamin Chamberlain-Knightsmith is destined to be the 12th Earl of Bloxington. With his mother dead and a great injustice on his shoulders he has good reasons to pull up his hood. In Shannon’s Law one of the quests is to resolve his issues. It’s a bumpy road.

Escape To Love On Tour.

You would have thought that by now a media pro like me would have gone on display somewhere. Perhaps a tour with beasts in an old fashioned circus or starring as a fortune teller on the end of a pier somewhere would have been glamorous. As a kid I always longed for such a life – but it was not to be. 

I can now set aside all my previous disappointments. I am going on my first ever blog tour. It was only recently that I really found out what a blog tour is. I guess all of you out there knew already. Since I’m something of a virgin, I’m only doing five stops with the following kind hosts:
